A prize of S$50,000 is offered for an outstanding publication that makes a significant impact on our understanding of Singapore’s history. The prize is administered by the Department of History at NUS. The prize was first introduced in 2014 as part of the SG50 programme to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday.

Designed to stimulate engagement with Singapore’s history broadly understood, make the nuances of history more accessible, and generate greater understanding among Singaporeans, the prize is open to all works dealing with aspects of Singapore’s history. This includes pre-1819 history, as well as the wider world in which Singapore played a role.

It has been almost four months since the launch of our first Trusted Media Challenge, and we are pleased to announce our 2023 Winners! A big thank you to all who participated and made this challenge a success. This week, the finalists will be in Singapore for a week-long celebration of innovation and impact. We will be hosting a public event where you can meet the winners in person, and learn about their solutions to protect our planet.

Last night was an evening of firsts at the Singapore Literature Prize as Marylyn Tan became the first woman in the prize’s 28-year history to win for English poetry, and the prize also crowned a rare double in Chinese fiction with wins by Epigram Books authors Chia Joo Ming for her SG50-centric novel Kian Kok and Wong Koi Tet for his speculative short story collection Black Panther. The prize also saw its second ever winner for a book of creative non-fiction, as the judges hailed The Land of One’s Own by writer-photographer Hidayah Ibrahim.

A slew of new games have been launched by Singapore Pools, including a new online slot game and a revamped version of the popular Monopoly Millionaire game. The changes are set to attract younger players to the game, which is the most profitable in Singapore Pools’ history. With a guaranteed minimum jackpot of $2 million, the game is now even more lucrative than it was when it was launched in 1968 as a manual pool.

From today, you can play Monopoly Millionaire at all iPLAY Centres and online on the iPLAY website. The relaunch comes with an improved game experience and a more robust player identification system, which will enable you to track your winnings and check your account balance. Players can expect an increased number of prizes, a higher top prize and enhanced bonus features. There is also a new prize structure, with an increasing premium for certain tickets, and the addition of a second chance to win in every draw. Read on to find out more about the new game and how you can win big with the Singapore Toto.
